Digital Entrepreneur? What's That?
YouTube - 181,332,474. Facebook – 172,774,794. Amazon – 135,128,982. Gmail – 87,845,698. Google – 85,201,314.
Besides being a bunch of useless words and numbers without any context, these represent the top Google searches in the United States during 2020. And yes, I am in the group of people who go to Google and search for Google. No defense for it, guilty as charged. But let’s get past that for a moment. Why did I randomly search for this data? Well I needed content to post on our new blog. Also I wanted to drive home the point of the importance of the “Digital Entrepreneur”.
In basic terms, a Digital Entrepreneur is one who runs their business (selling products or services) online or through their phone. Just like that one friend we have that got the PPP loan that never had a paycheck to protect, we all know one. They are the people who keep us entertained when we go to our phones. Those who educate us. Those who recommend products for us. Those who make money on their phones and heckle us for not also making money off our phones. They are all small business owners and they are all in the digital marketplace.
The industry is “relatively” new in the sense that it is now a legitimate career path. I mean it always was, but now the big corporations believe in it as well; and they are shelling out hundreds of millions of their marketing dollars to take up some of that digital space. The “panoramic” not only boosted the Cleaning/Sanitizing industry, it also spurred the significance of the Digital Entrepreneur. Oh, and the sign making industry, they made bank!!!!
So be you Content Creator/Influencer, Forex Forager, AirBnB Host, Online Store Operator, you are a Digital Entrepreneur. So what’s my point? Well I’m hoping to attract those Digital Entrepreneurs to this post, to this website, and grab them by the shoulders like a caring grandfather or grandmother would do and say ever so sternly “Suga, you need yourself an accountant”.
Am I saying that out of my own self-interested desire to get more clients for my accounting firm? Indubitably! But I also have a special space in my heart for Digital Entrepreneurs and others out here trying to hustle. I’m one myself when you really think about it. So it’s about the love too. Because what comes with making money? Mo’ problems! Like taxes. Or better yet maybe you need help making more money, how do you get financing for your business?
